If your kids are interested in the STEM field, they can enjoy the Summer Engineering Academies of the University of Alaska Anchorage. Through this series of hands-on STEM summer camps, students in grades 3 through 12 are encouraged to foster their interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Academies are scheduled on a weekly basis with a schedule similar to that of a typical day at school. There are over 27 different classes over the course of the summer with material on robotics, coding, 3D design, printing, and chemistry.
They're structured similarly to a college curriculum and as such require students to submit an application for their participation in the program. It's best to get on the list early for the best chance at getting into one of these sought-after spots. Applications open up in February each year with tuition assistance available for families who qualify.
