Overview
Camp Hi-Ho was founded in 1986 by Karen Lawrence in Sulpher, KY. Karen had a vision to get children outdoors and give them freedom to choose activities they were interested in. This was vastly different from most camps, which offered more structure to, in her opinion, already over-structured children.
Camp Hi-Ho relocated to our current location on Aiken Road in Shelby County in 2000. The core of Camp Hi-Ho has never changed: give children freedom in an outdoor setting with enthusiastic counselors and fun activities. We’ve added many new activities over the years and kept some of our classics that have been around for nearly 40 years. We’ve accomplished our mission when campers return home worn out with mud on their knees and a new best friend.
