The Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation's annual summer camp is the perfect fit for kids ages 8-12 who enjoy being outdoors learning about nature and science. The programs start during the summer months of June and end in August.
Campers at the Student Stewards Camp spend their summer in Idlewild Park in Reno, learning about many different areas of ecology and other science topics, including water science, wildlife, physical environments, and much more. The week's curriculum even includes a field trip day, where students get a chance to travel to nearby community locations. They learn in-depth about the week's topic, such as museums, nature trails, or parks.
In addition to STEAM learning, nature exploration, and hands-on science projects, this summer day camp also includes classic camp activities like group games, crafts, and team sports.
