Overview

Our purpose is to pass on our outdoor heritage to the next generation. Using hands-on learning experiences and expert Instructors, we are able to teach wildlife conservation, hunting and angling skills, gun safety, hunter's safety, boater's education and more!

Camp Woodie, launched in 1995, is a week-long (Sunday-Friday) residential summer camp for kids ages 7-16 operated by the South Carolina Waterfowl Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

At Camp Woodie, safety is our top priority, especially when it comes to firearms education. Our certified shooting instructors provide hands-on training to teach campers the fundamentals of gun safety, proper handling, and responsible shooting practices. Through structured instruction and supervised practice, campers gain confidence, discipline, and respect for firearms, ensuring they develop lifelong safe habits in the field and beyond.

At Camp Woodie, one of our core goals is to reconnect children with the great outdoors by providing a tech-free space where they can truly be kids. In a world dominated by screens, we offer a rare opportunity for campers to unplug, explore nature, and embrace new adventures. Through hands-on experiences, they build confidence, develop lifelong skills, and form lasting friendships—all while making unforgettable memories. This intentional break from technology fosters mental well-being, reduces stress, and supports healthy development, reminding kids of the simple joys of outdoor play and discovery.

At Camp Woodie, we are dedicated to equipping the next generation with the knowledge and skills they need to enjoy the outdoors safely and responsibly. For campers over the age of 10, we provide access to certified hunter and boater education, ensuring they learn essential safety practices, conservation principles, and ethical outdoor stewardship. Through hands-on instruction, campers gain the confidence to navigate the field and water responsibly, fostering a lifelong respect for wildlife and natural resources.
