Camp North Star Maine

Overview

Boys and girls ages 7-17 are welcome to Camp North Star Maine, a premier sleepaway summer camp in Poland, Maine. Camp North Star Maine teaches children life and outdoor skills and exposes them to plenty of fun adventures. You can enroll your children in camp sessions ranging from 2 to 7 weeks in length.

At Camp North Star our philosophy is reflected in everything we do. Our interest in each individual camper and family allows us to take the time and help camper ’s design their activity schedule every week. Campers work with our program staff to choose five classes based on their interests to give them a well-rounded schedule for that week. Campers will then choose five new classes for each new week they are at camp.

The heart of the campers' experience at Camp North Star is the family they will be a part of in the cabin. Community living subtly encourages campers to open up and share stories and to develop friendships with others their own age. The cabins share two meals a day together (breakfast and dinner), sit together at camp meeting, and become the people you count on to make you smile when you're sad or laugh with you when you’re happy. The counselors and other campers in your cabin become your lifelong extended family.

The combination of North Star’s value system, the RICHS, and our emphasis on teaching 21st century life skills is part of what sets us apart from other camps. It is the foundation of who we are as a camp, and it allows us to help each camper become the best version of themselves.

The RICHS represent the moral fabric of our community and we strive every day to highlight these qualities in each camper. At North Star, there’s no award for most popular camper or best athlete. Instead, each summer we “recognize” the campers that best display each of these five values. One of our goals is for campers to not only live their life at camp by the RICHS, but for it to become their own personal value system at home.
