Camp Ma-He-Tu

Camp Ma-He-Tu is an affordable sleep-away camp for girls ages 7 to 15 and was founded over 80 years ago in 1937! The camp is just 40 miles north of New York City in a beautiful, natural setting on picturesque Lake Kanawauke in Harriman State Park – near Bear Mountain.

The young women there enjoy an exciting mix of traditional camp activities focusing on individual growth, teamwork, and empowerment! Ma-He-Tu is a small camp (only 110 campers during each session) that provides a personal camping experience for every girl and enables campers to learn new skills and make life-long friends in a supportive and nurturing environment.

They offer three 2-week sessions, which can be combined for a total of 2, 4, or 6 weeks at camp! Each session is only $1650 – and there are several discounts available – making it one of the most affordable overnight camps out there.
