Overview
Camp Leo is the only overnight summer camp for children with type 1 diabetes in Western Washington, designed to give kids a safe, fun, and confidence-building camp experience — with full medical support.
Hosted by Type 1 United, Camp Leo welcomes youth living with type 1 diabetes for an unforgettable week of traditional summer camp activities like swimming, outdoor games, campfires, and team-building adventures. Campers build independence, try new things, and form lasting friendships with other kids who understand life with diabetes.
What truly sets Camp Leo apart is our 24/7 on-site medical volunteer team, made up of experienced healthcare professionals and trained staff specializing in type 1 diabetes care. Families can feel confident knowing their child is supported at all times — from blood sugar monitoring to insulin management — in a safe and structured environment.
For many campers, this is their first time away from home managing diabetes on their own, and Camp Leo provides the guidance, encouragement, and supervision to make that experience successful and empowering.
Camp Leo is more than just a summer camp — it’s a place where kids feel understood, capable, and connected.
If you’re looking for a diabetes summer camp in Washington State where your child can grow, gain confidence, and just be a kid, Camp Leo is a place to call home.
