AAD Camp Discovery

Overview

We offer kids ages 8-16 with chronic skin conditions a classic summer camp experience. Our camp is free for families through the generosity of doctors, volunteers, and donors. We provide the level of care each child needs, led by expert dermatologists and medical staff.

Camp is hosted in five states across the country and throughout the summer. Campers might learn archery or go swimming, make tie-dye or go on a scavenger hunt. Our campers have a variety of chronic skin conditions, so we tailor support to each camper, finding ways for everyone to participate.

Camp Discovery can change lives. Kids befriend other campers with “their skin.” At camp, they may meet someone with their skin condition for the first time. They also meet kids with many other skin conditions, but at camp, everyone is celebrated for who they are.

Camp Discovery is also special by providing extensive medical support to campers. Dermatologists oversee the camp, working with dedicated staff and volunteers. Many of our doctors are pediatric dermatologists who bring a lifetime of experience to helping kids with chronic skin conditions.

Our staff are equipped to handle daily medical care regimens and medical emergencies, should they arise. Medical staff are assigned to each cabin of campers to distribute medication, assist with campers’ daily care regimens, and monitor their overall health.
